Setting up a company in Japan? Compare the firms that can actually help.
Business Manager Visa specialists, incorporation firms, bilingual tax accountants and visa-compliant offices — recorded against the same fields, so you can see who publishes their fees and who does not.
The Business Manager Visa changed substantially on 16 October 2025 — the capital threshold rose to JPY 30 million, a full-time employee became mandatory, and a business plan must now be vetted by a certified support organization. A lot of English-language advice online still describes the old rules.
Not sure what you need yet?
Setting up in Japan means dealing with four separate licensed professions, and most people arrive not knowing which ones apply to them. These are the questions founders actually get stuck on, in the order they tend to hit them.
- Can I even qualify for the visa? The bar moved sharply in October 2025 — JPY 30 million, a mandatory hire, a language test. What the rules require now →
- What will this cost me? Capital, statutory fees and professional fees are three different things, and quotes mix them. What it actually costs →
- KK or GK? About JPY 140,000 apart in fees. The real difference is who takes you seriously. Choosing a company type →
- Who do I actually hire to do this? Four professions, and no single firm covers all of them well. Start from what you need done. Browse the directory →
Start with what you need
